Heyjae: A Sporty Sans Serif Font for Modern Branding

It was a typical Tuesday morning when I sat down with my laptop, coffee in hand, and the task of redesigning the packaging for my small bakery. The old labels felt outdated, and I knew it was time to give our brand a fresh look. That’s when I stumbled upon Heyjae—a sans serif display font that brought a bold, energetic vibe to the table.

Heyjae is a modern display font with a sports-inspired design, reminiscent of those bold jersey fonts you see on athletic gear. It has two styles: inline and regular or solid. The inline version feels more dynamic, while the regular offers a clean, consistent feel. Both styles have a playful yet professional edge, making them ideal for businesses looking to stand out without sacrificing readability.

Bringing Energy to Bakery Packaging

I decided to test Heyjae on our new seasonal cookie box. The name “Spiced Pumpkin Delight” needed to pop, and Heyjae delivered. Its sharp angles and clean lines gave the label a sporty, approachable look that matched our brand’s friendly tone. The inline style worked perfectly for the product title, while the regular version was used for the subtitle and ingredients list. It balanced well and didn’t overwhelm the eye.

Typography plays a huge role in first impressions. When customers pick up a package, the font they see immediately influences how they perceive the brand. Heyjae helped us feel more polished and consistent, which made our packaging feel more trustworthy and memorable.

Heyjae Beyond Packaging

After seeing how well Heyjae worked on the boxes, I started using it across other branding materials. Our café menu got a refresh with Heyjae as the headline font. The boldness of the font made the titles stand out, while the readability of the regular style kept the rest of the text easy to scan. It was a simple change that made the whole menu feel more cohesive.

For our Instagram templates, I paired Heyjae with a clean sans serif font for body text. The contrast between the two styles added visual interest without being too flashy. Heyjae became the go-to font for headlines, promotional posts, and even our thank-you cards. It had a personality that resonated with our audience—friendly, energetic, and slightly adventurous.

Choosing the Right Style for Your Brand

Heyjae works best as a display font—perfect for headlines, logos, and decorative accents. It’s not meant for long paragraphs or body text, but its versatility makes it a great choice for short phrases, titles, and branding elements. If your business has a sporty or youthful vibe, Heyjae can help reinforce that identity through typography.

When using Heyjae, I found that the inline style adds a bit of motion and energy, making it ideal for action-oriented messaging. The regular style, on the other hand, is more stable and suited for titles that need to feel strong and clear. For smaller labels or mobile screens, I recommend using the regular style to ensure legibility at all sizes.

Font Pairing and Readability Tips

Heyjae pairs well with a variety of fonts. For a modern look, I like to pair it with a clean sans serif font for body text. For something more elegant, an elegant serif font can balance out the boldness of Heyjae. If you're going for a casual feel, a handwritten or script font can add a nice touch to supporting text or accents.

Readability is key, especially when using a display font like Heyjae. Always ensure there’s enough contrast between the font and background. Avoid using it on small labels where the details might get lost. And if you’re using it for digital content, make sure it looks good on both desktop and mobile screens.

Before using Heyjae for any commercial project, double-check the file formats, licensing options, and whether it supports the languages you need. This will save you from any surprises later on, especially if you plan to use it for packaging, merchandise, or client work.

Heyjae has become a staple in my creative toolkit. Whether it's for packaging, menus, or social media, it brings a unique energy that helps small brands stand out. It’s not just a font—it’s a way to express your brand’s personality through design.
